Lady Gaga awarded LennonOno Peace prize

Los Angeles: Singer Lady Gaga has been honoured with the LennonOno Peace prize for her contribution to promotion of peace.

The award was presented to her by late musician John Lennon`s wife Yoko Ono in Iceland Tuesday, reports thesun.co.uk. The trophy was in the shape of a puzzle piece. Yoko Ono, Lennon`s wife, praised Gaga`s work and said the singer took a risk with her fame. "Lady Gaga is in a position of number one as a singer songwriter. And when you are number one, you don`t want to risk yourself. And she did," Ono said. The singer was also given a cash prize, and she has promised to donate the amount to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. IANS
