Noida: If you are a Tamilian, and new to the city of Noida, ‘Avvai Tamil Sangam’ might be the perfect place you would want to visit. The Sangam acts as a home for those who are away from their homes and will take you through an overwhelming ride by organizing a number of events. A cultural society in existence since 2003, is involved in promotion of Art and culture by organizing musical & dance programs and dramas from time to time. As part of their summer program, there was a two day program on the 18th and 19th August, where two popular Tamil dramas were enacted by Chennai’s one of the most popular theatre troupe ‘United Visual’ founded by T V Varadharajan, a professional banker, News anchor for Doordarshan for over 28 years, Tamil drama and television actor. T V Varadarajan presented ‘Reel (Real ) Estate’, a comedy play depicting the plight of a middle class family man wanting to construct his own house after abiding by all the protocols of applying for a bank loan, approaching real estate brokers and crooked builders, and yet not succeeding in building an abode properly. Another play enacted was Cho Ramaswamy’s most popular political satire ‘Endru Thaniyum Intha Suthanthira Thaagam’ (literally meaning ‘When will this thirst for Independence quench’), which was about what happens if Indian democracy is followed in Devaloka. How a corrupt politician after death reaches the abode of Yama awaiting the verdict. When asked to explain his activities on earth, the politician explains the meaning of democracy in India and that people in devaloka should also opt for democracy and should topple Indra the ruler and declare elections. And what happens thereafter in Devaloka This two day event was presided by the District Magistrate of (Noida) Gautam Budh Nagar Mr.MKS Sundaram, IAS and Mr. K Vaidyanatha, Chief Editor of Dinamani (Tamil daily). On this occasion, Avvai Tamil Sangam under its banner gave Life Time Achievement Award to Dr. Ganesh K Mani, noted Cardiothoracic Surgeon, with Apollo Hospitals.
