Directed by Saurabh Shukla ‘I M 24’ tells the story of a 42 year old balding, truthful and an aspiring screen writer named Subhendu Roy (played by Rajat Kapoor) who happens be the main protagonist of the film. He shares his flat with his friend Gagandeep Mishra (played by Ranvir Shorey), a struggling actor who does not mind resorting to lies and dishonesty when the need arises.
A dark and lonely night makes Subhendu encounter a young and pretty girl on a virtual platform. As a result, guided by the tactics of Gagandeep, the naïve Subhendu is compelled to throw his honesty out of the door and opts to lie in order to hide his age and present himself as a cool 24 year old chap before his new found love. All of a sudden, life gets all rosy and colourful for Subhendu as lying brings him a good job, a young sweetheart, and a lifestyle change for Gagandeep too!
To accompany the two men in their roller coaster ride are other colourful characters like Gagan’s girl friend Sheela Nair (Played by Neha Dhupia), successful producer and director Nayan Sidhwani (played by Saurabh Shukla) and his wife Suzy (played by Lilette Dubey), a part-time waiter cum full-time actor played by Vijay Raaz and a receptionist Mona (played by Delnaz Paul)
Basically, ‘I M 24’ is all about a man who is ready to cheat and lie to seek love since he is left with no other way. And just like a typical Hindi film, truth wins at the end and ‘I M 24’ is no exception.
Coming over to the performances by the actors, everyone has given their best shot to their respective roles. Ranvir Shorey manages to create a sparkling chemistry with Rajat Kapoor and even actors like Vijay Raaz, Neha Dhupia and Delnaz Paul have managed to add charm to the movie despite their short roles. Clearly, the movie’s USP is the actors’ performances and a few funny lines that will make you laugh.
But in spite of having a good set of actors, Saurabh Shukla fails to create a strong storyline. The director fails to create any kind of impact on the viewers with the film.
Cinematographer Fuwad Khan has captured some beautiful locales of Mumbai which is a plus point for the movie.
Final Verdict: Go and watch only if you have nothing interesting to do this weekend!
Ratings: Two cheers for this one!
