Kolkata: Observing that Kolkata could not be safer for pedestrians unless people were stirred from numbness, popular Bengali director Shiba Prasad Mukhopadhyay has said his last film `Accident` talked about changing the attitude.
"I have got an overwhelming response for the movie, the aim of which is to change the attitude of being unresponsive to things happening around us. We must take part in road safety campaigns and inculcate the spirit," Mukhopadhyay, whose film `Muktodhara` on `culture therapy` in prisons is still running successfully, told reporters here last evening.
Mukhopadhyay was roped in to dwell on road safety to launch `Total Quartz Safety Month`, a unique campaign, spread across 21 cities of the country promoting safe driving habits among the public.
Talking about `Accident` which spins around a mishap that changed the lives of three families and seeks to find out the circumstances, the director of `Ichhe`, another huge hit on the flawed education system, said, "A well-known dentist with whom I had an appointment two years ago had lost a relative on the same day. His account of the incident haunted me and co-director Nandita Roy began developing the story."
