The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral thereby making it almost impossible for anyone to miss it on social media - be it videos or photos.

New Delhi: The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral thereby making it almost impossible for anyone to miss it on social media - be it videos or photos.

Celebrities ranging from corporate heads to TV personalities to sportspersons have taken up the challenge and called upon their compatriots to do the same. Many individuals have taken the challenge too pouring a bucket of ice cold water over their head.

According to reports, the feel-good campaign has raised USD 15.6 million since July 29 for the ALS Association, which researches Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The campaigned had raised USD 1.8 million in the same time period last year.

Here a list of corporate heads who took up the ALS ice bucket challenge.

Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg took up the challenge after he was nominated by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. In video, Zuckerberg took a bucket full of ice water and poured it on himself but not before nominating Bill Gates, Sheryl Sandberg, his partner at Facebook and Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings.

Gates accepted the challenge by Mark Zuckerberg but did it in a different and better way, as he himself said. The video on Youtube by thegatesnotes went viral and got over 7 million hits in just 3 days. He then nominated and challenged Elon Musk, Ryan Seacrest and Chris Anderson from TED to participate and raise awareness for ALS.

Tim Cook

The CEO of Apple Inc took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and was one of the latest celebrities to join the league. In a video posted on Apple's website, Cook is seen receiving a cold splash from rapper-singer Michael Franti on stage at the California campus of Apple. And ffter receiving the splash, he challenged Franti, Disney`s Bob Iger and new Apple recruit, Dr. Dre to take a ALS ice bucket challenge for a cause.

Satya Nadella

The India-born CEO of Microsoft willingly accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as nominated by former pro-football player Steve Gleason on Twitter and allowed a group of employees to dump a bucket of ice water on his head.

"The thing I'm really excited about is what Steve and the team have done to raise awareness for ALS," Nadella said in a video posted on Microsoft's website. He then challenged Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Google co-founder Larry Page to do the same.

The CEO of Amazon accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as challenged by Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft and poured himself with a bucket of ice water on stage at the Amazon meeting in Seattle on Friday. He then challenged William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and George Takei to take up the challenge for the cause.
