Katy Perry congratulates ex-hubby Brand on `clean decade`

Los Angeles: Singer Katy Perry has reportedly written an email to ex-husband Russell Brand congratulating him for not having had drugs for last one decade.

Brand, 37, was a drug and sex addict and has had many legal issues with police. He recently celebrated his drug-free decade and wrote on Twitter: "Ten years clean... thanks for all your messages of love... anyone can get clean, one day at a time." Perry, 28, knew how important this is for Brand. "Although they`ve broken up, Katy knows how important this milestone is for Russell. She wanted to let him know that she was thinking of him and that she was still proud of what he has achieved," thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying. Perry, who is currently dating John Mayer, also wanted her ex-husband to know that she is fine after the divorce. "She also wanted to drop him the email to wish him a happy 2013 and to let him know that her heart was finally healing," the source said. Brand and Perry tied the knot in India in 2010 but parted ways after 11 months of marriage. IANS
