London: Indian authorities have rejected a plan by the adult entertainment company, Playboy, to open its first club in Goa.
Goa CM Manohar Parrikar said that Playboy`s proposal will not be considered by his government on "technical grounds," the BBC reported.
The club was being planned to open on Goa`s Candolim beach.
According to reports, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Goa rejected the proposal after misgivings in the party.
Earlier BJP legislator Michael Lobo threatened to go on a hunger strike if it opened in Goa, citing that it would be promoting "vulgarity."
Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said that there had been a lot of debate on "the promotion of vulgarity" if the Playboy Club were set up.
