New Delhi: From serving aces to acting in a Bollywood flick, Leander Paes seems to have it all covered. The 13-time Grand Slam winner makes his Bollywood debut in ‘Rajdhani Express’, a socio-political drama that releases next week on the 4th of January.
But acting alongside Jimmy Shergill, Gulshan Grover and co is just the start for the Olympic bronze-medal winner as he looks to steadily transition from sports to movies over the next few years.
In a chat with Rediff readers he said: “At the moment I am juggling both being a world class athlete and learning films but down the track, if you’ll enjoy my acting ability, only then I would look to replace my tennis with films.”
He added that he has always been interested in acting and movies and that ‘Rajdhani Express’ would just be the first step on that path. The next ambitious step seems to be in Hollywood!
“I have 3 movies on the card,” he disclosed, “one Hollywood, one Bollywood and a graphic novel which is releasing in the summer of 2013.”
“Yes, I have a Hollywood script on my table. Do you guys feel that I should venture to Hollywood straight?” he asked cheekily.
He also harbours long-term ambitions in the industry: “I believe I can make a difference in the way that I tell stories and I am looking forward to my own home production.”
We wish Lee all the best with his acting future too and hope his second service is as good as his first!
