Mila Kunis targeted by anti-semitic Ukrainian politician

Los Angeles: ‘Friends With Benefits’ star Mila Kunis has been targeted by a politician in her native Ukraine, who called her an anti-Semitic slur during a Facebook rant.

The slur was reportedly made against the 29-year-old actress by Igor Miroshnichenko, who said that she was not a true Ukrainian and called her a `zhydovka`, reported TMZ online. Kunis was born in the Ukraine and is Jew. The rant by the politician has caused Jewish organizations around the world to be furious with the Ukrainian government. There have been several protests by Ukrainian Jews, especially after the government announced the word was okay to use when speaking about Jews because it appears in the Ukrainian dictionary as a term for the people that isn`t exactly a slur. The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles has now entered into the fray over the politician targeting Kunis. The Center sent a letter to Ukraine`s prime minister, to "express our outrage and indignation against the slanders of the Svoboda Party directed against the Jewish community in the Ukraine." The Ukrainian term is essentially a derogatory term against the people. Kunis recently spoke out about her early childhood and growing up in the Ukraine. "My whole family was in the Holocaust. My grandparents passed and not many survived. After the Holocaust, in Russia you were not allowed to be religious. So my parents raised me to know I was Jewish. You know who you are inside. When I was in school you would still see anti-Semitic signs," she had said. Kunis` parents moved her and her brother to the US when the actress was seven. PTI
