Madonna, Meryl Streep on designer Manish Malhotra`s wish-list

From Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra to Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, he has styled almost all Bollywood beauties.

Vancouver: From Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra to Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, he has styled almost all Bollywood beauties. But it is `Queen of Pop` Madonna, multiple Oscar-winner Meryl Streep and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, whom designer Manish Malhotra wants to dress up next.
"In my 23 years of career, I have dressed up almost all the beautiful girls and top stars, but there are (more) stars with whom I want to work. I would love to design for Madonna. I saw her performance in Abu Dhabi a couple of months ago, and she has always fascinated me not just with music, but the way she looks every time," Malhotra said. "I am also a huge fan of Meryl Streep and Kate Middleton and I would love to design for both of them," he added. The designer staged a fashion show, celebrating hundred years of cinema, on the second day of the ongoing Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) here Friday. Five Bollywood beauties - Urmila Mtaondkar, Raveena Tandon, Neha Dhupia, Nargis Fakhri and Sonal Chauhan, walked the ramp in his creations. However, Malphotra maintained that his clothes are his showstoppers. "The theme is hundred years of Indian cinema, so I have used lot of Indian textures, and Kashmiri hand embroidery. I have been promoting Indian handicrafts through my collections and I honestly feel that my work is my showstopper," he said. Having designed costumes for several films, what does he think is the ongoing trend in Bollywood fashion? "As I grow more in the deep skin of clothes, cultures and traditions, the black and white fascinates me very much. Even my works initially have been influenced by the 1960s look. That era has influenced me and it is getting back in a big way," said Malhotra. IANS
