Melbourne: The character of `Yoda` from the famous 1977 `Star Wars` movie has been chosen as the most popular character of the series in a new poll.
According to the starwars.com voting, the Jedi Master has won over all his contenders with 60 per cent of respondents preferring him to the others, the Daily Telegraph reported.
The Star Wars `This is Madness` event wanted the fans to vote for their favourite character.
For the forces of light, the finalists were Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2 and Chewbacca along with the perennial favourite, Yoda.
Boba Fett was a strong contender along with Emperor Palpatine, on the dark side.
Protocol droid C3PO and gremlin-like Salacious Crumb was eliminated in the first round itself, while Jar-Jar Binks never even made it into contention.
