Mizo govt to downsize workforce by 20 pc in eight to 10 years

"The downsizing process has started. The VRS will be introduced after the elections scheduled in November. We will start with the drivers," Kohli said.
While recruitment to the non-essential departments is frozen, those with surplus workforce are being identified, he said.
Kohli was talking to newsmen on the sidelines of the Mizoram human resource meet sponsored by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Hotel and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI). There were 46,000 state government employees at present, he said adding most of them were teachers in state-run schools. "The aim is to bring down the number by 20 per cent in the next eight to ten years," he said.
