Mumbai: In the sensational murder of starlet Laila Khan and five of her family members in the court, the city crime branch on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against the accused.
The main accused, Parvez Iqbal Tak, a native of Kashmir, has been booked under sections 302, 363, 364, 397, 201 and 120 b of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Another person Shakir Wani is wanted in the case.
The police have recorded statements of 101 witnesses in the case, of which nine witnesses, including watchman of Khan’s Oshiwara building and labourers, have identified Tak in the identification parade. The police have recovered two knives, one iron rod, two wooden rods with bloodstains, and the Outlander and Scorpio vehicles of Khan.
“The DNA tests of the skeletons recovered from Igatpuri farmhouse of Khan have not yet come. We have due substantial evidence against Tak on record and we are confident of successful prosecution of this case,” said joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy.
