London: Jennifer Lopez has rubbished reports that she got a hotel maid fired after the hotel worker asked her for an autograph.
The 43-year-old pop singer took to her Twitter account to defend herself.
Ironically, the ‘Waiting for Tonight’ hitmaker said the first time that she heard of the story was on the social networking site.
“C’mon thought you knew me better than this.. Would never get anyone fired over an autograph. 1st I heard of this was on twitter. #hurtful,” the Daily Mail quoted her as tweeting on Tuesday.
Her statement comes after Pray Dodaj claimed that she lost her job after she asked Lopez for an autograph.
Dodaj said she knocked on the Lopez’s door when Lopez was staying at the Melia Dusseldorf in Germany, but was turned away by her two assistants.
The next day she was phoned and fired after being told that Lopez had complained about being disturbed.
“I cleaned on her floor. And I am an incredibly big fan so I took all my courage and rang the bell to get an autograph,” Dodaj told German newspaper Bild.
“But I was rejected by two assistants at the door. A day later the cleaning company that employed me at the hotel called and said that Ms Lopez had complained.
“I was fired right there on the phone. Because of an autograph,” she said.
The hotel director, Cyrus Heydarian, stands by the decision to sack Dodaj, insisting they he doesn’t tolerate employees who disturb his guests.
“She has acted contrary to the contractual arrangements and disturbed the privacy of our guests,” he said.
