Mumbai: US First Lady Michelle Obama gave a boost to English lingerie label Agent Provocateur after splurging Rs 25 lakh in a single shopping spree last year.
Michelle spent $50,000 (Rs 25 lakh) on saucy lingerie while shopping in Manhattan, which reportedly boosted the sales of the company by more than 12 per cent.
However, Agent Provocateur CEO Gary Hogarth did not confirm whether Michelle Obama was among the company’s high-profile clientele but told a daily that the label had recently garnered ‘unexpected famous names’ in the US.
Beyonce Knowles and Christina Aguilera have been spotted at Agent provocateur stores in recent months, most likely purchasing classy unmentionables which cost around $1,990 (Rs 95,000).
Apparently, Michelle’s trip to the expensive boutique is a sneak peek into her taste for luxury and high fashion, something which has time and again shocked her critics.
Agent Provocateur is founded by the son of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Joseph Corr, and his then-wife, Serena Rees, in 1994.
