Delhi: After delivering exceptional performances in films like ‘Fashion’ and ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, Priyanka Chopra is now to do another woman-oriented film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is to don the directorial hat for a film based on Indian Boxing queen Mary Kom’s life. And finally, seems like PC has been roped in to play the Boxing legend on celluloid!
Bhansali’s biopic on the Olympic medallist had been in talks for a while now. Priyanka Chopra had earlier denied being a part of the film; but sources claim that she’s on board now. The film is expected to go on floors sometime in the beginning of next year. A source adds, “Priyanka was in talks with the production house for quite a while now. We were trying to work out her dates and finally things are settled. She is on board to play lead. We intend to begin our workshop with Priyanka and Mary soon.”
Speculations are rife that the film might not have a lead male actor since it is based on Kom’s life. An insider has revealed to a website, “PC was keen to do this film and Bhansali thinks she will be perfect for Mary`s role. They met a couple of times to discuss the script and she finally signed the dotted lines.”
However, neither the director nor Chopra have spoken anything about the film.
