Kathmandu, Feb 10: Pakistan has rejected as "baseless" and "ridiculous" New Delhi's charge that its intelligence agency ISI was using Nepalese territory to pursue anti-India agenda. "We do not engage in such activities," Pakistan ambassador to Nepal, Zamir Akram, said here yesterday.

Such charges were "baseless" and "ridiculous", he was quoted as by The 'Kathmandu Post'. "If we indeed wanted to do it, then we have a long border with India. We will not need to use Nepal whose sovereignty we respect," Akram said.

The Pakistani ambassador was reacting to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's remarks on Saturday that reports suggest that territories in Nepal and Bangladesh were now being used by ISI to pursue anti-India agenda. Vajpayee charged Pakistan with taking "no significant action" to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and said it did not appear to be interested in establishing good neighbourly relations with India by ending its proxy war.
