CHENNAI: As megastars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan shared the stage on Wednesday, speculations were rife over the two forging a political alliance.
Amid the recent hype over their political entry, the two actor-turned-politicians were spotted chatting together during the film launch of Kizhakku Africavil Raju in Chennai. The movie is a sequel "in motion capture technology" to AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran starrer, the 1973 superhit Ulagam Sutrum Valiban.
When questioned about political alliance, the actors' answers were ambiguous.
“Only time will be able to tell that. Let us see in due course of time," said Rajinikanth.
Reiterating similar views, Haasan said, "Time is a good medicine for everything. I second it."
The duo will follow their own respective lines of political ideology, added Haasan.
Ending suspense on his political debut, Rajinikanth had announced the launch of his political outfit on December 31, 2017.
Asked what would be his stand, in case state assembly polls are held in the next six months, Rajinikanth said, "I will face it definitely."
Earlier on Wednesday, Kamal Haasan announced the launch of his political tour, releasing a detailed plan of his pitstops across the state. The tour will commence on February 21 and will be undertaken in multiple phases.
On this tour, which will be flagged off from his hometown of Ramanathapuram, Kamal Haasan will be proceeding to the districts of Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai, where he will be interacting with locals.
The two superstars had also shared the dais in Malaysia earlier this month.
