Chennai: The Dollar Business, a dedicated platform on export-imports, manufacturing and services trade, conducted The Dollar Business G.R.O.W. The workshop in Chennai was the third in the series of G.R.O.W. workshops planned by The Dollar Business across the country during 2016-17. The previous two editions of the workshop, recently held in Agra and Coimbatore, had also witnessed an overwhelming participation from the members of the MSME community, including manufacturers, merchant traders, service providers, among others.
The G.R.O.W. workshop agenda was designed to guide and equip individuals in undertaking export-import activities, and give them an adequate tour of EXIM procedures, documentation, available incentives, challenges, etc.
The expert panel consisted of well-known industry experts in the field of foreign trade, which included Dr. A. K. Sengupta, Former Dean – IIFT & Chief Consulting Editor, The Dollar Business, Mr. Steven Philip Warner, President (VMPL) and Editor-in-Chief of The Dollar Business, Mr. Manish K. Pandey, Senior Vice President (VMPL) & Editor, The Dollar Business and Mr. Indranil Das, Executive Editor, The Dollar Business. The speakers shared experiences with participants on a wide variety of topics:
Dr. A. K. Sengupta said, “A significant change has been introduced in the foreign trade policy to simplify export procedures and documentation. The number of mandatory documents have been reduced to three. The MSME sector has an important role to play in the export effort of India.”
Mr. Indranil Das said, “Building trust and delivering quality is more important for MSME’s than building a brand.”
Mr. Manish Kumar Pandey said, “Exporters, particularly MSME’s are unaware of various financing schemes available to them at the moment that can help then augment their global footprint. There is an immediate need for information sharing in this respect.”
Mr. Steven Philip Warner said “The six myths of exports can be overcome easily through the opportunities presented by The Dollar Business platform, which is why this initiative from The Dollar Business assumes great importance.”
The workshop also witnessed a very interactive Q&A session which helped participants to resolve their queries related to foreign trade by none other than the industry experts.
