New Delhi: Days after skipper Virat Kohli was ruled out of the initial matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 due to shoulder injury, KL Rahul has been sidelined thanks to a similar injury.
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo on Friday, the 24-year-old will soon be traveling to London to undergo surgery.
Rahul had hurt his left shoulder in the first Test against Australia, but he continued to play through pain for the rest of the series.
In the recently concluded India-Australia series, Rahul hit six half-centuries.
The right-handed batsman was RCB's third-highest run-getter in the last IPL, behind only Kohli and AB de Viliers, with a tally of 397 from 12 innings.
Earlier, the franchise announced that skipper Kohli will miss the tournament for at least a "few weeks" at the start. South African de Villiers will lead the team in Kohli's absence.
