Amid Indo-Pak tensions, R Ashwin wishes more success for Pakistani spinner Yasir Shah

New Delhi: The match between Pakistan and West Indies marked the beginning of day-night Tests with Pink ball in the Asian subcontinent and it wasn't the only reason behind the clash making headlines.

The epic encounter saw Pakistani batsman Babar Azam set up the platform for Pakistan’s dominion with a triple century. Following him, spinner Yasir Shah picked up 5/121 against West Indies in the first innings.

Yasir's 5-wicket haul earned him the runners-up spot in the race for - fewest number of matches for 100 wickets – having completed the feat in 17 matches.

Ashwin, who completed his 100 wickets in 18 matches, trails the Pakistani bowler by one match, with the legendary George Lohmann leading the charts having achieved the milestone in 16 matches.

Yasir's twitter account was flooded with tweets from the cricketing world and Ashwin, though a little late, didn't forget to applaud his compatriot too.

Ashwin wrote, " Just a little late I guess, but very well done. Double it up now."

It was wonderful to see the Indian bowler showing his sportsmanship despite the tensions between India and neighbours Pakistan.

Earlier, The Tamil Nadu born Ashwin had wished Yasir luck as the latter was on-course to become the fastest Asian to reach 100 Test wickets.

In reply to the Indian offie's good luck message, the Pakitani spinner said, "Yes, he had said good luck so I am thankful."

"It`s naturally motivating when a great bowler who is second fastest to 200 tweets a good luck message and it`s really a great motivation for me."

Shah even expressed desire to play in a Test series against India.

"Every Pakistani and Indian player has this wish to play against each other," said Shah. "I have not played a Test against India so it`s my wish."
