Australia will be facing off against giant-killers Netherlands in match no. 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. Australia are currently in fourth place on the Points Table with two wins and two losses in their four matches so far.
However, the Pat Cummins-led side have won their last two matches in the World Cup 2023 over Sri Lanka and Pakistan and will look to keep up their winning run against the Netherlands. But the Aussies will be wary of Netherlands, who have stunned in-form South Africa in Dharamsala earlier in this tournament.
“Teams have got better. I think that’s great for world cricket, certainly in tournaments like this that can sometimes be pretty long. And you see a lot of games that are not exactly close or competitive. But we’ve said it multiple times now in this tournament this year, there’s absolutely no easy games. And you go into every game having done all the appropriate homework and hopefully you can come out with a win. So, tomorrow is no different for us. We respect the Netherlands; they’re playing some good cricket and that will be a tough challenge,” Australian all-rounder Mitch Marsh said on the eve of the match in New Delhi.
Netherlands, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing loss to Sri Lanka in Lucknow after the high of the South Africa win. They will be hoping to upset the five-time world champions for the first time in ODI cricket like Afghanistan managed to stun Pakistan earlier this week.
