Today, the Vandana Katariya-led Indian team defeated China 2-1 in the final of fourth edition of continental tournament at Singapore.
Deepika Thakur slotted the rebound from a penalty corner in the 60th minute of the game to give her team a memorable victory.
Earlier, Deep Grace Ekka converted a penalty corner to open the scoring in the 13th minute. But China equalised in the 44th minute through a field goal from Zhong Mengling.
The win also served as a timely revenge for the Indian team, which lost the China 2-3 yesterday in their final league match.
With the men's team also winning the tournament after defeating arch-rivals and defending champions Pakistan in the final on Diwali day in Malaysia, it's a double for Indian hockey.
