New Delhi: As reported earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refunded 30 percent of the franchise fees paid for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 by now suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The Indian cricket board on Wednesday shared the information on payments made in August 2016, and listed the payments, which were made on 19th of the month.
The payments have been described under the "Purpose" of "Refund of Invoice paid towards Franchisee Consideration - (30%) for 1st Installment for IPL 2016".
Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd, which owned and operate RR, was refunded with Rs 8,40,18,000. Similarly, Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd was refunded with a sum of Rs 1,141,14,000 was Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd.
It's worth mentioning that both the franchises have had moved the Bombay High Court in April, against the levying of franchise fees by the BCCI.
And it's learnt that the suspended franchises have already withdrawn legal proceedings after the board opted to settle the matter out of court.
Besides the refunds to CSK and RR, the BCCI also made payments to various entities for their services during the IPL 2016.
The Hyderabad Cricket Association was awarded with Rs 28,75,000 for "providing Good Wickets and Outfield for IPL Season 2016."
Hosting fees were also given to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (Rs 63,00,000) and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (Rs 1,26,00,000).
Rs 2,100,00,000 Prize money were also disbursed to Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd for "Runner Up and Play off Standing Fund for IPL Season 2016", Rs 1,575,00,000 to Knight Riders Sports Pvt Ltd for "Prize Money & Playoff Standing Fund for 4th Standing in IPL Season 2016".
Assam Cricket Association was also given Rs 57,25,000 "Prize money for Ranji Trophy Losing Semi-finalist 2015-16."
