New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its 87th annual general meeting in Mumbai today.
The formal notice for the meeting was sent by honorary secretary Ajay Shirke on August 31 and, interestingly, one of the main items that is to be taken up is the election of the new honorary secretary.
While several board officials have reiterated the fact that the meeting would be "routine business", several important decisions are likely to be made – something which might be against the proposed guidelines of the Lodha committee.
Here is the agenda BCCI officials have in mind for the meeting:
Decision on selectors: Few days ago, BCCI had posted an advertisement for the post of selectors on its official website. With several veterans having thrown their hats into the ring, the new selection committee is likely to be finalised today.
Election of secretary: Ajay Shirke is likely to be retained as the secretary according to several reports.
Representatives for the ICC meetings: At the AGM, the BCCI is set to elect its representatives for the ICC meetings. Thakur and Shirke are likely to be the board's pick.
The BCCI officials also have to approve the budget for the next calendar year.
Appointment of auditors for the next financial year is also likely to take place today.
The Lodha Committee had directed on August 31 that the AGM be limited only to "routine business" concerning the past year (2015-2016), and that any business or matters relating to the next year (2016-2017) be dealt with only after the adoption of the MOA and Rules."
