New Delhi: One day after Virender Sehwag replied to Gurmehar Kaur's 'palcard' act which stated "Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him", the Kargil martyr’s daughter said that she was heartbroken seeing such a reaction from one of his favourite cricketers.

"It broke my heart to see Sehwag's tweet. I looked up to him while I was growing up," Gurmehar was quoted saying by NDTV. "I am from Punjab, and went to the Mohali stadium where I yelled his name. Hence it is very disappointing to see such a tweet from him, to be honest," she added.

She concluded saying, "I hope they use that place (Twitter) for something other than spreading hate."

She also spoke to ANI regarding the former Indian cricketer's tweet saying, "I am heartbroken, these are the ppl you yell for in matches & they troll you at the expense of your father's death."

In a Facebook post which has gone viral, Gurmehar wrote, "The brutal attack on innocent students by ABVP is very disturbing and should be stopped. It was not an attack on protestors, but an attack on every notion of democracy that is held dear in ever Indian's heart. It is an attack on ideals, morals, freedom and rights of every person born to this nation. The stones that you pelt hit our bodies, but fail to bruise our ideas.

"This profile picture is my way of protesting against the tyranny of fear. If you are a student in any Indian university, in any Indian state and you wish to protest against ABVP then take a similar selfie and make it your profile picture. Use the hashtag #StudentsAgainstABVP and copy paste this message along with it. It's time for every student of India to unite! Jai Hind! Jai Democracy!#StudentsAgainstABVP," she added.

Minutes after Gurmehar posted the message, her classmates and students from other universities started sharing it as a result of which most of them uploaded a similar profile picture.
