New Delhi: The DRS controversy, which has put Indian and Australian cricket teams in a war path, seemed to have died down after the BCCI withdrew the written complaint against Steve Smith and Peter Handscomb.
But little that the two cricket boards know that respective media outlets in either country have been waging their own war, churning out endless stories, purportedly covering all the angles.
On Friday, reports emerged that some section of Aussie media are trying to drag Indian coach Anil Kumble into the controversy. In one of the reports, Kumble was blamed for adding fuel to the fire.
The Daily Telegraph claimed that Kumble barged into the umpires' room to lodge a mid-innings protest. The incident reportedly happened after Indian captain Virat Kohli was given LBW out on a DRS review. It claimed that Kumble was not happy with the timing of the decision.
Interestingly, the report also mentioned about the infamous 'Monkeygate' episode. Kumble was the captain of the touring Indian team when the episode happened.
The all-important third Test of the match four-match series will be played Ranchi, starting March 16.
