India vs Australia: Aussies hope for Nathan Lyon's full recovery ahead of 3rd Test

New Delhi: Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon single-handedly destroyed India in the 1st innings of 2nd Test.

His figures of 8/50 was the best record of a foreign spinner in India. However, Lyon didn't have a good outing in the 2nd innings and failed to take even a single wicket.

His inability to take even a single wicket in the 2nd innings was due to an injury to his spinning finger.

According to team's physio, there was a crack in the callus of his index finger. The team authority feels that a four-day break will get Lyon back in form.

"There's no doubt it impacted the way he bowled, but that's a part of the game. Fast bowlers bowl with bad toes and backs, spin bowlers over time have gone through some finger issues," Aussie assistant coach David Saker said.

"You probably have to deal with it as best you can, but there’s no doubt it affects a lot of bowlers. Just those little niggles, always affect people," he added.

Just like Team India, Aussies are also having a little break from cricket. The visitors will resume their training in Bengaluru from Sunday.

The series is tied 1-1. Third Test of the series will be played at Ranchi, starting March 16.
