New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again showed his lightning-quick stumping to probably change the course of the third and final ODI match against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam. (Match blog || Scorecard)
Tied at 1-1, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the Lankans to bat first. Then, Jasprit Bumrah provided an early breakthrough, by removing opener Danushka Gunathilaka in the fourth over.
But a century stand between Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama for the second wicket threatened India. Tharanga was especially destructive, toying with Indian bowling attack, and was primed for a hundred.
But in the 28th over, Dhoni invoked his magical stumping, off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav, to end the 121-run stand, and deny Tharanga (95 off 82 balls) the century. It effectively changed the course of the innings as no other Lankan batsman managed to trouble Indian bowlers.

For the record, Dhoni is the only wicket-keeper in the history to have affected a century of stumpings in ODI cricket, a feat which is unlikely to be repeated again.
And the active wicket-keeper, who is nearest to Dhoni's 105 stumpings is Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim with 40.
India won the second ODI match in Mohali by 141 runs to level the series. Lanka won the series opener in Dharamsala by seven wickets.
