New Delhi: Innovation is the name of the game. That's what Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper Gautam Gambhir did on Friday in their IPL match against Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens.

Chasing Delhi's 160, Gambhir opened the KKR innings with Sunil Narine, The West Indian didn't last too long, but the skipper joined hands with Robin Uthappa to thwart Delhi attack by scoring quick runs.


But the skipper played a brilliant, impoverished shot in the 10th over, off the penultimate ball, bowled by Corey Anderson. The Kiwi dropped short for a bouncer, but Gambhir stood tall and played a perfect pull shot as if he is playing a tennis shot – a forehand – for a four.

It sure was one hell of a shot, which will put tennis legends in a spot.


Gambhir remained unbeaten on 71 off 52 balls with the help of 11 boundaries. KKR won the match by seven wickets with 22 balls remaining.
