ICC Women`s T20 World Cup: Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma help India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets

Radha Yadav bagged a four-wicket haul before Shafali Verma produced yet another decent performance with the bat as India thrash Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their final Group A clash of the ICC Women`s T20 World Cup at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on Saturday.

Asked to bowl first, Radha proved to be tormentor-in-chief for the Women in Blue as she claimed four wickets while giving away just 23 runs. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also took two wickets while Poonam Yadav, Deepti Sharma and Shikha Pandey all chipped in with a wicket each. 


Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu was the highest scorer for Sri Lanka with 33 runs. 


In reply, Shafali Verma once again shone with the bat as she smashed a crucial knock of 47 runs off just 34 balls while Jemimah Rodrigues (15) and Deepti Sharma (15) remained unbeaten at the crease as India cross the mark in 14.4 overs. 


For Sri Lanka, Udeshika Prabodhani and Shashikala Siriwardene chipped in with a wicket each. 


Notably, India had earlier booked their place in the semi-final of the tournament after registering back-to-back wins against Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
