Latest Updates

  • This perfectly sums it up:

  • WOW!! WOW!! KKR have beaten KXIP by 2 runs in a last-ball thriller. How could KXIP lose it from 115-0. Two wickets came in the phenomenal penultimate over from Prasidh Krishna with the rusty Prabhsimran Singh getting dismissed first and then KL Rahul getting bowled. With 14 runs needed from the final 6 balls, Narine dismissed new man Mandeep Singh. It all boiled down to 6 runs needed from the final ball with Maxwell on strike. Maxwell hit a four on the last ball with the ball taking a bounce just a few inches before the boundary line. KXIP: 162/5 (20 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! IS THAT THE GAME?? KL Rahul is bowled by Prasidh Krishna on the final ball off the penultimate over. 14 runs needed from 6 balls now.  Mandeep Singh and Maxwell on the crease for KXIP. KKR: 151/4 (19 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Nicholas Pooran is bowled by Sunil Narine. Tried to go over the infield on the leg side but completely misreads the flight against Narine. Is it too late now ?  New man in Prabhsimran Singh plays three straight dot balls to add pressure on his skipper KL Rahul. He takes the single off the last ball and remains on strike. KKR won't mind that at all. The newbie on strike with all the pressure. 20 needed from 12. KXIP: 145/2 (18 Overs)

  • Now Nicholas Pooran is getting into the act. He hits a majestic six and four off Nagarkoti to take his side right on the cusp of victory. KXIP will try to finish it off as quickly as possible with wickets in hand to get their net run-rate in check. 29 needed now from 24 balls. KXIP: 136/1 (16 Overs)

  • WICKET!! OUT!! Mayank Agarwal is dimissed by Prasidh Krishna. Finally KKR have something to cheer about. Agarwal tried to castle one on the leg side but hands a straight catch in the deep to Shubman Gill. This has been a snoozefest ever since the duo of Agarwal and KL Rahul took the field. That itself is an ode to their batting mastercalss. Just did the basics right - this was their game plan today. Rotating the strike at will. Let's see if KKR can conjure something up now.  KXIP: 117/1 (15 Overs)

  • Kings XI well on top. They are cruising towards victory. They have excellently executed their game plan today. They have never once today, been troubled by the KKR bowlers. Without doing anything extraordinary, they are keeping the run-rate in check and moving closer to the total. Rahul and Agarwal have both completed their fifties now. Brilliant from the duo. KKR: 106/0 (13 Overs)

  • Great batting from Rahul and Agarwal. Without hitting a single boundary, they pick-up 9 runs from Sunil Narine's second over which shows their class. Brilliant stuff from the duo. KXIP: 76/0 (10 Overs)

  • No problems at all for the KXIP opening duo. They are sticking to their plan and after a boundary, simply rotate the strike without doing anuthing unnecessary. They have succesfully tackled the pacers and now the KKR spinners are into the attack. KXIP: 54/0 (7 Overs)

  • Good start from Kings XI. The in-form duo of Rahul and Agarwal have faced no issues so far against Cummins and Krishna. The duo are shocasing their class with some textbook strokes. No rash shots so far. KXIP: 36/0 (5 Overs)

  • DROPPED!! KL Rahul is dismissed by big man Andre Russell. It would have been a huge wicket for Prasidh Krishna. Prasidh bowls a slower one and Rahul miscues it, only to loop it straight over. And adding insult to injury, Russell is inured in the process and the ball went away to the boundary. Russell has gone off. What a big loss it will be for KKR. He has hobbled away. KXIP: 8/0 (2 Overs)

  • KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal will open the Kings XI Punjab innings'. Pat Cummins will start the proceedings for Kolkata Knight Riders. KXIP: 0/0 (0 Overs)

  • Kolkata Knight Riders have posted a competitive total of 164/6 against Kings XI Punjab. KKR: 164/6 (20 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Andre Russell is out caught behind. Brilliant bowling from Arshdeep Singh. Andre Russell disappoints again as he dismissed for 5 only. He had edged the previous ball for four but this time Prabhsimran completes the caught behind. KKR: 150/4 (18.2 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Shubman Gill is run-out but he has done his job. He is gone for a composed innings of 57 off 47 balls. He tried to go for a second run but falls just short as the wicketkeeper clips the bails first. Perhaps it is good for KKR at this stage as Russell is the new man in. KKR: 146/4 (18 Overs)

  • Wonderful from Karthik. He is on fire today. He hits two fours and a brilliant six off Chris Jordan's third over with a total of 18 runs coming from it. He has reached 43 from 19 balls. Fnatastic inning from the skipper as he leads from the front. It looks like he has finally found the right batting position from himself. Very good from KKR. KKR: 133/3 (17 Overs)

  • Shubman Gill reaches his fifty. Brilliant innings from him. He had to play this knock especially after being involved in Rana's run-out early on. Skipper Dinesh Karthik. meanwhile, has started timing them well now and has raced away to 28 off 15 balls. KKR: 115/3 (16 Overs)

  • 16 runs coming from Mujeeb's final over. KKR really need to start firing at all cylinders if they want to post a competitive total. Although it must be said that this is a difficult pitch with the ball coming very slowly to the bat. KKR: 91/3 (14 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Eoin Morgan is dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi. Morgan tries to go big but miscues his timing on the wrong one from Bishnoi. The googly does the trick as Morgan is way too early into the shot and Maxwell completes the catch at long-on. KKR: 68/3 (12 Overs)

  • Eoin Morgan and Shubman Gill have steadied the ship somewhat but Kings XI have done well to tighten the screw. The need a big innings from someone like Morgan. Ravi Bishnoi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are now operating the attack for Kings XI. KKR: 49/2 (9 Overs)

  • Very good from Kings XI. They restrict KKR to just 25/2 from the first six overs. Eoin Morgan and Shubman Gill are trying to settle-in but can't freetheir hands because of very tight lines from the Kings XI bowlers. Although, they take 13 runs from Mujeeb Ur Rehman's first over to recover a bit. KKR: 38/2 (7 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!! Terrible mix-up in the middle leads to Nitish Rana getting run-out. Gill had shuffled Arshdeep's delivery to short fine-leg, straight to the fileder. But, Nitish Rana had already reached the striker's end and Gill never moved. Pooran completes an easy run-out. He simply jogs to the non-strikers end and removes the bails. Pressure on the KKR batsmen, KXIP well on top.  KKR: 15/2 (4 Overs)

  • OUT!! WICKET!!  Rahul Tripathi is bowled by Mohammad Shami. Tripathi never really looked settled today. He was looking very clumsy. After being at 0 from 8 balls, he manages to pull one for four against Shami but Shami responds by rattling the stumps. Tripathi's middle stump went cartwheeling to the wicketkeeper. KXIP bolwers giving a good account of themselves here. Very agressive from them. KKR: 13/1 (3 Overs)

  • While the first bowler from Shami was pretty conventional with 7 runs coming from it, Arshdeep Singh impressed one and all in his first over. He beats the in-form batsman Rahul Tripathi on five of his first six balls. He nips the ball away from Tripathi, who just about manages to survive the over. A wonderful maiden to begin from Arshdeep. KKR: 7/0 (2 Overs)

  • Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi will open Kolkata Knight Riders' innings. Mohammad Shami will open the bowling attack for Kings XI Punjab. KKR:0/0 (0 Overs)

  • Chris jordan comes in for the injured Sheldon Cottrell for KXIP. So still no Chris Gayle for them

Prasidh Krishna replaces Shivam Mavi in the KKR XI

    One change for both sides

KKR have beaten KXIP by 2 runs in a last ball thriller.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bat first against Kings XI Punjab. KKR posted a competitive total of 164/6 from their innings.

After a couple of good performances initially, KXIP have lost their last four games in a row and desperately need someone to rise to the occasion and turnaround their fortunes. They currently sit at the bottom of the table.

Apart from their opening duo of skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, all the other players have  been lacklustre and have failed to justify their inclusion.

Big names like Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammad Shami have completely flattered to deceive so far.

With 5 losses from their six games, The need of the hour for them is to pull up their socks and give their hearts out on the field, that is if they want a late chance into the playoffs.

KKR currently sit at the fourth position and will be the favourites going into the game. While they have won three games, they haven’t really come into their own when it comes to individual performances.

They have just about managed to get scrappy wins and never really looked emphatic in those. Firepower in the form of Andre Russell and skipper Dinesh Karthik have disappointed with the bat so far and they would want to shift gears for the latter half of the competition.

With both teams coming into the game with a point to prove, the match guarantees to be a roller coaster ride.
