The second day of the match has ended, and it has been an eventful one with many ups and downs. India started well, but soon slipped from 46 for 0 to 66 for 4 and then from 125 for 4 to 139 for 7. However, the 8th wicket pair of Axar and Ashwin rescued India, adding 114 runs to help India reach a total of 262, just one run shy of Australia's first-innings total of 263. India then struck early in Australia's second innings by dismissing Usman Khawaja, but Travis Head, who was promoted to the top of the order, played a fluent unbeaten inning of 39, supported by determined innings from Labuschagne. As a result, Australia stretched their overall lead to 62 runs and will be the happier side going into the end of play. Ashwin and Jadeja did not get as much assistance from the pitch in the last hour, and Rohit Sharma appeared deflated at times. It remains to be seen whether the pitch is improving or India's bowling was just average. The stage is set for an exciting third day, which could prove to be the turning point of the Test match. Khawaja falls into a trap set by India as he paddles a cheeky dab to leg gully, caught by Shreyas Iyer. Jadeja pushed it through and Khawaja failed to place it into a gap. The ball came at chest height and Shreyas took a good catch. Khawaja's wicket was crucial as he was in form and could have taken the initiative away from India. His dismissal for just 6 runs off 13 balls, including a boundary, was a big blow to Australia.
