Michael Vaughan issues England guidelines against India; follow or get thrashed 5-0

New Delhi: Former England batsman Michael Vaughan has urged his side of not being overconfident of their success in the long format of the game over India.

Any team in their home conditions is said to pose a greater threat to the visitors and team India on sub-continent wickets is a very tough team to beat in Tests.

Vaughan, 42, wrote on his twitter handle, "More right handers in the top order..More consistency with the ball..Even if it means playing another seamer to do so..If not 5-0 in India."

If England are to prevent a 5-0 thrashing in India, they should have more right handers at the top of the order. Currently the team that toured Bangladesh had Joe Root and Jonny Baristow in the top order as right handed batsman. All the others like Alastair Cook, Ben Duckett, Gary Ballance, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali are all left handers.

On the other hand, Indian Test team have a red-hot off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who possess a greater challenge to a left hander than right.

Recently, England toured Bangladesh for their 2 match Test series amid security concerns. Though they won the first match by 22 runs, but had to put in that extra effort to beat the hosts. In the second match, they were humiliated by Bangladeshi spin attack, at one time they were crusing towards the target and moments after they collapsed and lost the match by 108 runs.

Michael also stressed on the fact that England should bring in an extra seamer for the tour if they want to win against a formidable Indian side. The seamers that England have at their disposal are Stuart Broad, Steven Finn, Chris Woakes (all-rounder), Ben Stokes (all-rounder). Their premier fast bowler Jamer Anderson is recovering from a shoulder injury. So, he will not be able to represent his country in whites for the 3 Tests.

The first Test of the series will be played on November 9th, 2017 in Rajkot.
