Karachi: Veteran Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has been offered to join as a batting consultant in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
"We want to see Yousuf in the NCA, and are offering him a one-year contract," a board official was quoted as saying by the Express Tribune.
The official further informed that the PCB has approached Yousuf after watching him coach Peshawar Zalmi`s junior team in their cricket academy.
The legendary Pakistan batsman, responding to the offer, said he hopes to help the newcomers if he takes up the new position.
"Yes, I have been offered to join the NCA and work with young players. I am ready to help newcomers and share my experience with Pakistan`s future batsmen. However, nothing is final yet and I hope everything is done quickly," Yousuf said.
The 42-year-old featured in 90 Tests and 288 ODIs, scoring 7,530 and 9,720 runs respectively between 1997 and 2010.
