Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey has said the team under MS Dhoni is dying to entertain its fans and put on a great show in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 42-year-old, who represented Australia in 179 Tests, 185 ODIs and 38 T20Is, also represented CSK and was part of the teams that won the much-coveted IPL trophy in 2010 and 2011.

“I know the players are really excited, the management, the captain (MS Dhoni), he’s extremely passionate about his team, we want to put on a great show, the players want to do well and we want to entertain the fans," Hussey told chennaisuperkings.com recently.

Chennai are returning to the league after a two-year betting ban. “We want to take the good things from the past and create new history as well. It’s been a very successful team over the years, it’s been really well led by MS, we’d like to continue that kind of positivity around the team and hopefully we have more success,” Hussey said.

“In a lot of ways it is how you play the game. You are representing your team but are also representing your fans and you do have a responsibility towards your fans, to give your best effort to try and win games obviously for the team but also for the fans.”

Talking about the fanatic CSK fans, Hussey, who went by the nickname "Mr Cricket" during his cricketing days for his prolificness with the bat, said: “The fans here in Chennai are a very knowledgeable crowd, they really understand their cricket, appreciate good cricket and appreciate good cricketers."

“To be honest it has been phenomenal, the support we have had from the fans. We have been blown away by the support and how excited everyone is,” Hussey added.

CSK open their campaign on April 7 against defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
