Mumbai Indians continued their losing streak in IPL 2022 as they lost their 8th consecutive match.
The Rohit Sharma and Co went down against LSG by 36 runs on Sunday (April 24).
This is a new IPL record as no team has lost 8 matches on the trot in the league.
Theoretically MI still can make it, but chances of that happening is in negative.
Upset fans reacted angrily, wanting Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard out of playing 11 from the next match while also pointing fingers at other players who failed to live up to the expectations.
Check reactions below:
Some hard decisions should take in next match about Pollard and Ishan kishan @mipaltan

@KieronPollard55 should not have retired from international cricket. He should have retired from IPL and started playing test cricket.

Totla Waste of money @mipaltan#LSG #MIvsLSG
Needing 169 to win, MI started off the chase well, putting on 49 for the 1st wicket. However, Ishan Kishan looked out of sorts and he was eventually dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi for 8 off 20 balls.
Rohit played well for his 39 off 31 balls but he could not convert it into a big knock. After they fell, MI's middle order collapsed again with Dewald Brevis (3), Suryakumar Yadav (7) falling apart.
Tilak Varma showed some effort with a 27-ball 38 but at the other end veteran Kieron Pollard continued to struggle, getting out after scoring 19 off 20 balls. By the time Pollard went, it was too late for MI to make a match out of it and they fell short by 36 runs.
MI are virtually knocked out of the tournament. Theoretically they are still not out of the race for top four. But MI know that playoffs are done and dusted this season.
Earlier, courtesy KL Rahul's brilliant ton, his second of the season and fourth of the league, LSG posted 168/6 on the board. He was lone man standing with a 103 made off 62 balls, an innings where he hit 12 fours and 4 sixes. LSG have now entered into the top 4 in points table.
