Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is feeling quite confident with the ball at the moment as he prepares to put up a good show in the first Test of the four-match series against India, beginning December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.

The 31-year-old will head into the series against the Virat Kohli-led side on the back of his exceptional show in New South Wales' 104-run victory over Western Australia in their JLT Sheffield Shield clash at the Optus Stadium. Lyon finished with the figures of seven for 120 in his first-ever Sheffield Shield match.

Lyon has enjoyed remarkable success in Adelaide, the venue of the opening Test, having scalped figures of five for 134 and seven for 152 to guide Australia to a 48-run win over India four years ago.

Hoping to replicate that performance, Lyon said, "If I recreate that it would be amazing. It was an amazing Test match for what cricket can offer. It was a different Indian side back then. But this Indian side, they've obviously got superstars right through from batting to bowling."

"I'm feeling very good. I'm feeling very confident with the ball at the moment," cricket.com.au quoted the spinner as saying.

Meanwhile, Lyon also gave his approval to the Optus Stadium pitch, which will host the second Test against India from December 14.

Pointing out that the stadium has got a pretty well-rounded wicket, the Australian spinner said that the pitch is quite similar to that of the WACA

"I think it was a pretty well-rounded wicket.I love bowling at the WACA, because you get the bounce. I certainly got some bounce out here. They are pretty similar," he signed off.
