Pakistan vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 2 — As it happened...

Second day also belonged to Pakistan with Azhar Ali becoming the first batsman to hit a triple hundred in day-night Test.

West Indies were 69-1 at close in reply to Pakistan`s big first innings total of 579-3 declared on the second day of the first day-night Test in Dubai on Friday.

Kraig Brathwaite was unbeaten on 32 and Darren Bravo on 14 not out at close as West Indies need to reach 380 to avoid follow-on.

Azhar Ali hit a maiden triply hundred with 302 not out to anchor Pakistan`s innings which also had contributions from Sami Aslam`s (90), Babar Azam (69) and Asad Shafiq (67).

This is the second ever day-night Test after Australia and New Zealand played the first at Adelaide in November last year.

The remaining two Tests in the series will be played in Abu Dhabi (October 21-25) and Sharjah (October 30-November 3).

Second day's play concluded with West Indies still trailing Pakistan's huge first innings total of 579 by 510 runs. The visitors have lost Leon Johnson, falling to the guile of Yasir Shah.

Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo are the unbeaten batsmen.

So far so good for West Indies. Both the openers survived couple of big shots, but yet to be separated. For Pakistan, it's primarily the pace attack with Mohammad Amir, Sohail Khan and Wahab Riaz sharing Yasir Shah, the legbreak googly bowler.

That's historic. Azhar Ali hits a four through the cover to bring up his maiden triple hundred. With that Pakistan also declared the innings.

Azhar thus became the fourth Pakistani batsman to hi a triple-ton, after Hanif Mohammad, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.

West Indies managed to remove a dangerous looking Babar Azam, thanks to a brilliantly toss up delivery from Devendra Bishoo. Good catch by Jason Holder at cover.

But their worry is far from over, Azhar Ali continuing as if nothing has even happened. The Pakistan opener became the first player to hit a double ton in pink-ball Test.

Azhar Ali continued to pummel West Indies bowlers. He has already scored his Test best score, and his batting partner Babar Azam also looking good.

Finally, the second wicket for visitors in the form of Asad Shafiq, who chipped it straight back to the bowler (Bishoo). The here of ODI series Babar Azam came out at number 4 for Paksitan. Azhar Ali is still presemt on the crease and he is inching towards his double century.

In the first over of Day 2, Shafiq survived a close call by Gabriel. West Indies were not sure so they didn't went for the review. Asad completed his fifty with a beautiful drive, which went between extra-cover and mid-off.

DAY 1 Recap

Pakistan closed the opening day of the day-night first Test, played with a pink ball, against West Indies on 279-1 in Dubai on Thursday.

Azhar Ali smashed an unbeaten 146 while Asad Shafiq was 33 not out after Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat in the second ever day-night Test in cricket history.

Ali put on 215 for the opening wicket with Sami Aslam, who fell for 90 in a match which marked Pakistan`s 400th Test.
