Ranchi Test: Anil Kumble thankful to BCCI , Cricket Australia to bury hatchet on DRS fiasco

New Delhi: Indian team coach Anil Kumble, on Tuesday, applauded BCCI's move to issue a joint statement along with Cricket Australia calling off the DRS issue and bringing the focus back on the game.

The controversy that sparked off when Steve Smith was spotted referring to the Aussie dressing room after being given an LBW decision by Umpire Nigel Llong has travelled far from its point of inception. With combined efforts from the batting and bowling side, Indians scripted a miraculous comeback to crumble the visitors on the fourth day on the Chinnaswamy track.

But instead of all the cheering and whistling, post match conference saw the furious side of Virat Kohli who spoke out against the Aussie skipper. Legends of the game too poured in their views thus shifting completely from the game, something which Kumble agrees to.

"As custodians of this great game, we believe it's important that we look after the game. Key stakeholders are the players and they certainly understand their responsibility," the former India captain told reporters.

He in fact is thankful to both BCCI and Cricket Australia to bury the hatchet on the DRS fiasco. "I think what was important was to focus back on the game. "I am very glad the BCCI took a very matured call with Cricket Australia and issued a joint statement that cricket needs to move on and moved out from whatever happened in Bangalore," said the leggie, "I think it was absolutely necessary. We had made a fantastic comeback after losing the first Test. It was very rewarding,"

He concluded saying that both the teams have propelled from the issue and their minds are now set on the series-deciding Test which is just two days later at Ranchi. "It doesn't affect our game. We only want to play. We are not doing the talking but you are. We are just playing and thinking about the game on the field," the coach said

On being asked whether the two captains would meet prior to the Ranchi Test, the coach said, "Yes they will meet."
