On the last day of his job, chairman of the selection committee faced several interesting questions from reporters.

Most of them were however related to India's squad for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

There were however some bouncers that Patil preferred to duck under.

According to a report on NDTV, one of them was regarding Sachin Tendulkar's retirement in November 2013.

"The only sad thing about being a selector is that you end up losing some of your friends," said Patil as he refused to spill the beans.

The timing of Tendulkar's retirement, many consider, remains one of the biggest mysteries in Indian cricket.

Did Tendulkar inform BCCI of his decision to retire or was it forced upon him by the Indian board? Guess we will never find out!
