Prithvi Shaw continues to make waves in the cricketing world!
The India Under-19 captain scored a masterful 94 off 100 balls against the Australians at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand on Sunday as Rahul Dravid's charges walked away with an easy 100-run win in what was their first game of the tournament.
During his innings, Shaw received probably the biggest compliment of his career yet and it came from former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, now a well-known voice in the world of cricket.
Reacting to a Shaw drive off the front foot, Bishop said the shot from the 18-year-old put him in mind of the great Sachin Tendulkar. "That is Tendulkar," the 50-year-old said during his commentary stint.
Bishop played quite a few matches against Tendulkar and could claim to be a good authority on the Indian batsman having also seen him play for a long time from the commentary box.
Bishop's compliment will sure provide Shaw with double delight on a day the Indians totally outplayed their opponents from Australia. India posted a massive 328/7 in 50 overs with Manjot Kalra (86) and Shubman Gill (63) also coming to the party, after which fast bowlers KL Nagarkoti (3/29) and Shivam Mavi (3/45) did the rest.
