New Delhi: The crowd at Centurion witnessed a masterclass from South African opener Quinton de Kock in the first game of the five-match one-day international series against Australia.
The 23-year-old scored a career best 178 runs of 113 balls as the Proteas chased down Australia's 294 in just 36 overs.

Playing in his 65th ODI match, the wicket-keeper batsman was a constant source of frustration for Aussie bowlers - hitting 16 sixes and 11 fours - to register his name in the record books.
De Kock posted two hundred-run stands for the first and second wickets for South Africa – first with Rilee Rossouw and and second with captain Faf du Plessis. The 145-run stand for first wicket came in just 17.1 overs. The second wicket stand of 23 runs came in 14.3 overs.

Quinton is now the holder of South Africa's second-highest individual score in ODI cricket with a career-best 178. Gary Kirsten still holds the No. 1 spot with his innings of 188 runs against UAE in Rawalpindi in 1996.
