New Delhi: The Chennai team launched their team anthem 'whistle podu' on Friday, a day before they return to the Indian Premier League after two years having served the spot-fixing ban. The Chennai based franchise took to social media to launch the anthem, sharing a video of skipper MS Dhoni and team prominently pulling off dancing moves and whistling all the way through the video.
The summer we've all been waiting for is here. Thala has returned and the yellow army is back. What are you waiting for? #WhistlePodu. #Yellove #SummerIsHere pic.twitter.com/LmzsJyCHT0

MS Dhoni, the 'thala' as he is famously called in Chennai, was seen enthusiastically playing his part in the video. He has been a true leader for Chennai as under his leadership, the team lifted the IPL twice. Since a few weeks back, the franchise had been releasing teasers of the whistle podu anthem but they surprised their fans on Friday capturing not just the players but also encapsulated the local culture and flavour.
Come Saturday, Dhoni will lead his side back to IPL facing Mumbai. Dhoni has most of the old teammates this time too at his disposal and will be looking to prove a point. Last year, he represented Pune and lost the final by one just one run.
