New Delhi: Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell on Tuesday played one of the most scintillating knocks in limited-overs cricket as he hammered 145 runs off just 65 balls.

The swashbuckling right-hander was sent to open the innings, a move which did wonders as Maxwell entertained the spectators at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium with some breathtaking strokes.


The 27-year-old's knock was studded with 14 boundaries and nine sixes which meant he scored 110 runs in just boundaries.


As a result of his stupendous knock, Australia also surpassed Sri Lanka's record of highest ever team total in T20Is and posted mammoth total of 263 runs on board.
