New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar is one of India's most beloved sons, and when he takes on arch-rivals Pakistan, the very act becomes much more than sporting feat.

With the neighbors engrossed in cross-border firing, it's time we celebrate some of Tendulkar's greatest knocks against Pakistan.

The Little Master often talked about his 98-run knock against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup at Centurian as one of his greatest.

It indeed is, one of the greatest. Chasing Pakistan's 273, India lost Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly off successive deliveries to Waqar Younis, and left India at 2-53.

Tendulkar set up the win with his 75-ball knock, before Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh made it a one-way contest in the end.

If that ODI knock was a classic in attacking game, then those glittering shots were first displayed in international stage in 1989.

Making his debut, a young Sachin took on the likes of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. After scoring 35 runs in the first innings at Sialkot, the then 16-year-old hung on with Navjot Singh Sidhu to save the match. He scored 57.

In 1999, when Pakistan arrived in India for a much talked about series, Tendulkar was supposed to lead the charge. But in the first Test match in Chennai, he was undone by Saqlain Mushtaq, for a duck.

That failure prompted Tedulkar to play possibly one of his greatest knocks. He scored 136 in the second essay, only to see India lost the match by 12 runs.

Then there was his 141 off 135 balls in an ODI in 2004 at Rawalpindi. Chasing Pakistan's 329, Tendulkar hit 17 fours and a six as India looked well on course. India lost the match by 12 runs, with not a single batsman reaching 50 individual score.
