After an eye-catching performance in the five-match ODI series against England U-19, 17-year-old Punjab batsman Gill further raised his stocks with a hugely impressive century on Sunday in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Yuvraj took to Twitter and hailed Subham's performance.

"Saw a serious talent today shubman gill only 17 years of age ! A brilliant ton on a tough wicket," wrote the 34-year-old Yuvraj.

Reflecting on his ton, Shubham was quoted saying by Indian Express, “When I came in to bat, I had my target set that I need to bat long and anchor my innings well. Wickets kept falling at the other end and I was waiting for one good partnership so that we can set up a competitive total against them (Assam). Unfortunately Yuvi ‘paaji’ also got out early. However, the 141-run partnership with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (58) helped us rebuild our innings.”

Shubman was the lone man standing for Punjab as wickets kept on falling at the other end, but the teenager kept his cool and slammed a knock of 121 to help his side post 243 in 50 overs.
