New Delhi: In the loving memory of Pandit Acchan Maharaj, the great Kathak legend of the Lucknow gharana and father of Pt. Birju Maharaj, a musical event will be organised in the national capital as a homage to the guru, who has contributed much to the upliftment of Indian culture and its heritage.

Titled "Sabrang", the event, organised by Kalahetu in association with the Ministry of Culture, will be held on January 9 and 10 at the Kamani Auditorium and will be inaugurated by Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, in the presence of Pt. Birju Maharaj.

The event will witness the coming together of highly acclaimed artists like Adnan Khan, Fareed Hassan and Mehboob Hussain, Ustad Ahmed and Mohd. Hussain, Mukesh Gangani, Durgesh Gangani, Vishal Krishna and Deepak Maharaj.

"Our main objective is to liven up Indian cultural heritage through art and culture and through we are paying our tribute to the Dancing legend Pt. Acchan Maharaj, who has blessed us with his knowledge of expressionism, by gracefully and beautifully expressing the various sentiments," Kalahetu Organiser Kalpana Verma said in a statement.
