New Delhi: The festival Baisakhi falls on the month of Vaisakh every year and this year it'll be celebrated on April 13th. It marks the onset of Punjabi new year and thus is celebrated with much pomp and show.

The festival also has agricultural significance attached to it, for this festival marks the time for harvest of rabi crops. On this day, farmers thank God for the good harvest they have had in the previous year and also pray for the same in the coming year.

The festival of Vaisakh is of great importance to the Sikh community, as it was on this day way back in 1699 that Guru Gobind Singh laid the foundation of 'Panth Khalsa'.

Here's how you can celebrate 'Baisakhi wala mela':

Wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear you best colourful clothes.

Pay a visit to a Gurudwara.

Participate in community prayer meetings. The divine chants and the spirit of holy ardas will make you feel blissful.

Grab your share of the kara prasad, followed by a langar or a lunch organised by the Gurudwara.

Later in the day, join the procession. Join the women to perform the Gidda and the men for Bhangra.

The festival is also religiously celebrated all over the nation by different names - 'Rongali Bihu' in Assam, 'Nabo Borsho' in Bengal, 'Puthandu' in Tamil Nadu and 'Pooram Vishu' in Kerala.
