Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year and is one of the most important festivals for the people of Assam. It is a seven-day festival that usually falls on April. This year, it begins on April 14 and will end on April 20. Each day of the festival has its own significance and is celebrated differently. The harvest festival celebrates nature and its bounty and people offer prayers and greet each other for a prosperous new year ahead. On this joyous start of Rongali or Bohag Bihu, share with your friends and loved ones these warm greetings. Apart from this, there are two other Bihus that are celebrated in Assam. Kati Bihu or Kongaali Bihu celebrated in October marks the end of the sowing and transplantation of saplings. Magh Bihu or Bhogaali Bihu is celebrated in January/February and marks the end of the harvesting season.
